The day finally came to leave Fox’s Marina and head off to pastures new – hurray!!!
Whilst very exciting, it was also a day tinged with sadness. We had bought Escapade from the Oyster brokerage here in September 2016 and it would be strange not having the Fox’s team in our lives.
Since buying Escapde, she spent time out of the water in the ‘meadow’, on the hard in the yard and, for the past two years, she has been berthed in the marina.
In the past nearly five years, Escapade has undergone a major refit and had much of her equipment has been upgraded or replaced.
This could not have been done without the excellent work of the teams at Fox’s: riggers, electricians, mechanics, welders, joiners, workshop team, project managers, admin staff and of course the harbour masters and the yard team.
There are too many to mention by name, but we are very grateful to all of them for their input into making Escapade the amazing boat that she is.
As well as the team and Fox’s, it has been a huge pleasure to work with many other businesses, including:
Elite Yacht Covers: Excellent canvas work, including modifications to our Bimini for the solar panels. Also superb support and encouragement for me in my canvas cover making.
Mactra Marine: Providing our Schenker water maker with all of its spares and accessories. Also invaluable support and advice before and after purchase.
Merlin Equipment: Technical support and advice before and after the purchase of our new 12V electrical systems.
OneSails GBR East: Efficient and effective modifications to our sails and superb technical support.
We would thoroughly recommend all of these and have included links for you to check them out yourselves.
Finally, we could not leave without saying a huge goodbye and thanks to all of the amazing people we have met at the marina and through Fox’s Marina Yacht club.
Right from the start, everyone was so welcoming and our lives have been enriched by their presence.
Thank you to all, especially those who took the time to wish us bon voyage, both on the days leading up to our departure and the day itself. We will miss you all and hope you will follow our adventures and keep in touch.
Hope everything is going well and the weather is kind to you. Have a safe passage to jersey and onwards. Will look forward to hearing from you again.
