When reading blogs from other sailors, I am surprised by how many have pets; usually dogs or cats. It is interesting to see how the animals have adapted to life aboard. We have even read of a couple who trained their cat to use the toilet!
We decided against a real one, so meet Sinbad the Ship’s Cat…
(Apologies in advance to those non teachers following us. The plan is for Sinbad to post from far away places, with a view to engaging some younger followers and raise their awareness of the wider world. Those of you old enough may remember schools having Barnaby Bear who did a similar thing.)
Once a teacher, always a teacher!!
Hi all,
My name is Sinbad and I am planning to travel around the world with Caron and Martin on board their sail boat Escapade of London.
We were hoping to have been on our way by now, travelling from Ipswich to the South Coast and then across the Bay of Biscay to north west Spain. I was looking forward to our adventures, visiting new places and meeting new people. Instead, we are still at Fox’s Marina and making the most of occasional trips down the River Orwell and into the Wallet towards Rivers Blackwater or Crouch.
We are still managing to meet new people though as the Marina is a busy place. There are various people who have had their boats here for many years, but there are also fellow travellers passing through. It is great to meet them and swap stories and boating experiences.
One couple we met (Maz and Tim) even had a cat to keep me company for a few weeks before they all headed south. Hoping to catch up with them all again in the future.
Ahhh! Theodora misses Sinbad and can’t wait for more kitten time when they meet again!, hopefully soon!!
Hopefully somewhere warmer like the Canary Islands!
